The business of
electronic music

About

Foundation covers the business of electronic music: who signs where, who manages whom, which rooms get booked and what the deals mean for the people making the records.

Dance music runs on a network of agents, managers, labels and promoters that rarely gets reported with the care given to the music itself. We treat those moves as the story. A booking at an arena, a producer starting a label, a festival going quiet: each one says something about where the scene is heading and who is paying for it.

Why catalog numbers

Every story we publish is pressed as a record, with a sleeve and a number in sequence, FNDN-001 onward. The number stays with the story for good. When we update or correct it, the revision is recorded against the same number, so you can always see what changed and when.

Rumors, labeled

Some of what moves this business starts as talk. When we publish something we have not been able to confirm, it carries a rumor sticker on its sleeve and a banner on its page, and it stays marked until it is confirmed or withdrawn. We never present a rumor as fact.

Sources

Each record lists what it is built on: statements, filings, listings and reporting from other outlets, with links. If you think we have something wrong, tell us and we will look at it.
